Volunteers

 

Thanks for your interest in becoming a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

Generally we work Fridays from 12:30 until 4:30, and Saturdays from 9:00 until 4:30.  Construction skills are not necessary, just an enthusiastic attitude. Just come on by!

Habitat is a wonderful organization with great volunteers. Take a look at some of them in action!

Saturday, June 4th, 2005 the group from Woodlands Church braved the rain, and finished up the sub floor in short order.

Thank you to Judy Butcher from the Volunteer Center of Portage County &
Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers for assisting in getting these great volunteer groups out!

On Saturday September 11th volunteers from St. Michaels and Rice Clinic seeded the lawn at the 2004 home THANK YOU!

We have had a good crew from UWSP and the Student Affiliate, along with Midstate Tech. volunteers.

On Friday September 17th Corporate Express volunteers all day and was a big help on the first level exterior wall, and moving several tons of fill for the back wall.

On Saturday September 18th the Volunteer Center Youth Advisory Committee finished the first level exterior wall, the garage front wall, and stripped and repainted chairs for there upcoming "Chair-ity" auction in February.

On Monday September 20th the Dave Rasmussen's PJ Jacobs classes begin volunteering. Check out the afternoon class and morning class hard at work!

Saturday October 9th the UWSP Rotaract Club had a good crew on site, and along with our hardcore UWSP volunteers several tons of dirt were moved and the exterior sheathing was nearly finished.

On Saturday October 30th we are looking forward to having the UWSP Pointers Women's Basketball team volunteering.

Coach Shirley Egner and the UWSP Women's Basketball team braved the cold and rain and did a stellar job on Saturday October 30th.  Hurricane clips and roof sheeting was nailed down in record time.  Thanks!!

UWSP's  A.C.T. and the Women's Resource Center provided volunteers on Friday November 5th, a great, hardworking group, thanks!

We had a great group from UWSP on Saturday November 20th, including a couple hard cores, some Interior Architecture students, and a group of administrators from Residential Living, and Student Involvement and Employment, thanks Rob.  And we all enjoyed a great hot lunch, thanks Chris. 

The weekend of December 3rd and 4th we had a great turnout of volunteers   Two groups from UWSP came on Friday and Saturday.  On Friday we had a group from Hansen Hall, thanks Brent, and on Saturday, the Phi Eta Sigma honor fraternity had a group in the morning and another in the afternoon, thanks Jason.  We also had the usual suspects from the hard core gang and several first time volunteers from the community.  Thank you all.

The Rotary Club of Greater Portage County got out in the 17 below weather and pitched in on January 15th.

The Portage County Youth Advisory Committee help their "Chair-ity" auction during February and presented CWHfH with a check February 22nd.  What a great group of students.  The "Chair-ity" auction was inspired, the chairs wonderful, and the outcome terrific, thank you!

Hansen Hall was back again on February 26th, thanks.
