The Week of June 20th
The east and south walls are up and the garage floor, porch and rear stoop have been poured. Our goal this week is to erect the remaining walls and sheath them.
The Week of June 27th
The exterior walls are all up and sheathed with OSB. Next week we will begin putting up interior walls.
The Week of July 4th
We “trued up” the exterior walls and plumbed and set interior walls this week. Next week we will continue with the interior walls.
Wednesday we will hopefully be informed when the trusses will be delivered. We may be placing trusses Friday or the following Monday. Stay tuned as we will need a good crew on that day. We hope to have a crane from Jim Anderson at Ellis Stone construction for the trusses. Jim has graciously “given us a lift” with the trusses in the past.
August 4, 5 2011
After getting all the trusses up in near record time we started the truss tiedowns and facia. We also put up the front porch supports and rafters.
August 8, 10 2011
We finished framing the porch roof, and put up the OSB on the roof on the east and north sides.
On Friday we were able get the OSB on the gables before rain set in. Saturday the rains quit and we finished all of the roof OSB. Looking to be dry inside by the end of next week!
The crew installed all the drip edge and felt this week. The shingles are coming this Wednesday. If you are experienced, or willing to learn please join us Wednesday, Friday and/or Saturday as we always need a big crew for roofing.
The shingles came on Wednesday, and true to form Bruce and the crew had the roof finished Saturday. Great work!
We had the UWSP Women's Basketball Team in for their annual volunteer day. GO POINTERS!! Last year it was shingling, this year we kept the women grounded and they got the foam insulation up on the exterior walls. Thanks!!
The rest of the windows are in and we got a good start on the siding this week. It looks to be a beautiful next several days and by next Sunday we hope to have the majority of the siding up. After that we will start working on ceiling drywall.
We finished the majority of the siding last week with the help of a great group from Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday. Thanks! We hope to complete the siding this week, then it will be time for ceiling drywall.
This week we finished the siding. In order to prepare for the ceiling dry wall we placed attic vents, blocking for the dry wall, and braced the trusses. The dry wall will be delivered Monday, and after a bit more prep work we will start putting it up.
Week of October 17, 2011
We got the vapor barrier on the ceiling and started hanging drywall. We also got some wall insulation in.
We got the trees down, cut up, and mostly hauled away this week. Nearly all of the ceiling drywall is hung. We will continue with drywall this week.
This week we finished the ceiling dry wall, placed the wall insulation and cleaned and organized another storage bin. We will finish the vapor barrier and start hanging dry wall this week. Big news is the heat is on at the house!
We have been working on the drywall and have about 3/4 of it up. The home is really taking shape.
Almost all of the drywall is up. After this week we will take a couple weeks off as the drywall finishers come in and work their magic.
We are back up and running!
An eager bunch was awaiting Bruce at 8 AM Saturday, a total of 16. After some guidance and direction the group installed trim in the bathrooms, painted the kitchen, unboxed the cabinets, cleaned out the garage and hung about 50% of the garage drywall. They also staked out the new home at 525 West Cornell. This week we got a good start on the kitchen cabinets and finished hanging the dry wall in the garage. We will continue on the cabinets this coming week and hope to get the excavator in to start the new home next door. We plan on finishing 509 W Cornell by June and continue building 525 W. Cornell after that.
The cabinets are in, black dirt has been spread, and we hope to start on the footings for the next home this week. We are looking to finish at 509 West Cornell in May, so we'll be busy next month. Please join us if you can.
We continued trimming, mainly the exterior doors and utility room base. Finished drywalling and painting the garage and the garage door went in Friday. Countertops are ordered and will be in the week of the 14th.
We got the belt sanding done on the kitchen counter and plan to glue it up and install Monday. We also finished the trim, installed TP holders, did some landscaping, and some layout for the plumbers at 525.
Our goal by Sat noon is to have 509 ready for carpet and 525 ready for heat
tubes and concrete.
